Happy Mothers Day!

Mother's Day this year was a pretty laid back. Sam crawled into bed with me and we watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Caillou while Daddy fixed breakfast. After breakfast and a few gifts (flowers, home made card (my favorite), and gift card) it was off to church. Then it was home for naptime. Once Sam was up, we headed over to Kelly and Gwen's (my oldest bro) for dinner. (Derek and Heather were in Mexico). It was a combo celebration...Mother's Day and Kelly's Graduation from DBU. He just received his Masters in Counseling. Yay Kelly! Anyway, we had a great time. Here are a few pics....

Happy Mothers Day!

I received the following poem in an email from my mom. It put what we all feel so well into words that I had to share....
Before I was a Mom, I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom, I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom, I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom, I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom, I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom, I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom .

What do you do?

What do you do when Mama is on the phone?

You get down the big red bowl of Dum Dums and help yourself of course.

Gall Bladder update

Thank you all for your prayers :) My gall bladder surgery went really well and I am quickly recovering. I am just sore and slow. The doctor said that it looked as if it had been really damaged then healed then damaged then healed and so on. That was nice to hear because it validated my removing it. The worst part is that I can't lift my beloved Sammy for 2-3 weeks. That is just awful. I hate hate hate that. You don't realize how much those little times bring you close to them. It's like I miss him and he's right next to me. I think it's because I kinda feel like an observer over the things I'm normally the boss of. No matter how patient and wonderful my hubby is, or how much help I get from the Grandmothers, I want to do it all myself. Make sense? It also doesn't help when he cries,"Mommy hold!" I can hold him while sitting but it's still not the same. Anyway, I'll survive and Sam is starting to understand that "Mommy has ouchies on her tummy". 2-3 weeks is just a blip on the radar but I still say ugh.
